Summer Session for Graduating Seniors
Summer Session
Current high school seniors graduating in 2026 are not eligible for Rutgers Pre-College Summer Programs, but may be eligible for Summer Session.
Summer Session is an opportunity for non-matriculating* graduating seniors to earn degree credits before starting college over their summer break. Those non-matriculating students can apply for Summer Session as a visiting student.
*Students admitted to Rutgers University for the Fall 2026 term are ineligible to enroll as a Visiting Student to take Summer Session courses prior to their first semester.

Eligible Students
- Graduating seniors who are admitted to another university or college for Fall 2026
- Graduating seniors who are taking a gap year
Ineligible Students
- Students admitted to any Rutgers University campus for the Fall 2026 term
- Any high school student who is not a graduating senior
- Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors may be eligible for Pre-College
How do I register as a visiting student?
- Complete the Visiting Student Application
Applications are processed within 2-3 business days. Once processed, students will be emailed their RUID and Personal Access Code (PAC) with further instructions on how to register. - Register for Classes

High school students who are graduating seniors admitted to another university for the fall, pursuing a gap year, or graduated early AND not enrolled at Rutgers may register for Summer Session as a Visiting Student.
Graduating high school seniors who were admitted to Rutgers University for the fall are ineligible, as well as any other high school grade level that are not graduating this spring.

Eligible visiting students can register for up to 14 credits during the summer.

No. Pre-College Academies use a different application system. Eligible pre-college applicants are high school sophomores and juniors between the age of 16 and 18.

Eligible students must first apply as a Visiting Student. Once you have been assigned your Rutgers credentials, you can then register using the Rutgers Web Registration System (WebReg).

To confirm the prerequisites of a course, you must locate the course on the Schedule of Classes or the WebReg system.
For courses that require a prerequisite, there will be a “Prereqs” indicator listed. Hover or click on that to see what course is required.
